Education & Training

Our sessions can be adapted to fit a theme or occasion but mostly they’re about having fun and being creative.

Here are some examples of Education and Training ArtCart workshops with closed groups;

Client: Cinemagic & Cedar Lodge School, North Belfast
Format: 12 week program  with OCN qualification (Sept 22 – Jan 23)
Artforms: Animation

The Cedar Lodge School in North Belfast caters for young people with complex special educational needs and additional medical needs. A WheelWorks artist in partnership with Cinemagic designed and delivered an animation programme for a group of 15 teens.

The programme ran consistently for 2h a week over 12 weeks allowing participants to sample a range of animation styles including: digitally drawn frames using the FlippaClip app, Stop Motion and Claymation (like Walace and Gromit) and Papercut animation (think early South Park episodes). Having consistency and focused also helped build trust with the young people. The project was so successful that we’re back for another 12 weeks!

“The young people — who were quite hesitant at first — were able to get to know us over the 12 weeks. Some got really into it and have continued animating themselves — some have excellent YouTube channels!”
