YOUTH LEADERSHIP PROJECT
Project
New Narrative
2024–2025
What is New Narrative?
New Narrative provided a shared space for young people to develop leadership skills, strengthen Good Relations (GR), and support community cohesion.
From the outset, participants formed one cross-community youth volunteer team. Through youth-led, creative activities, the project – renamed ‘Horizons Without Borders’ by the group – empowered participants to reflect on GR themes and co-design meaningful responses.
They explored communication skills, built confidence, and developed as positive peer influencers. Promotion of good relations towards the building of a united and shared community.
Project goals
Promotion of good relations towards the building of a united and shared community.
Supporting young people to enhance leadership, creative and personal skills.
To design and make a community resource.
For their final art project, the group built and decorated a bench and flower planters, which they donated to the local hospital. They shared their story with invited hospital staff and created wildflower seed pouches to hand out to the public, helping raise awareness of the project and its purpose.
