Embark on a transformative journey with our innovative pilot programme, Step Together, tailored for young women and mothers aged between 16 and 25. This initiative unites groups from across Belfast, guiding them through a process of empowerment, confidence building, and leadership development, harnessing the creative arts as a catalyst for positive change.

Under the guidance of award-winning actor Louise Matthews (picture above), participants share personal stories, discuss their community identity and pride, delve into issues of diversity and equality within their communities, and learn to narrate their experiences through performance, writing and storytelling.

Our programme features engaging guest speakers and experienced facilitators, with participants attending the theatre, develop audio, podcast and video skills, and hone their creative writing and verbal story telling talents.

Through these diverse activities, women explore the power of their own stories and experiences, recognising their strengths and capabilities as potential leaders within their family units, communities, workplaces, and beyond.

The 2023-2024 Step Together Programme brought together women from all corners of Belfast, convening at the Greater Village Regeneration Trust in the south of the city and Cliftonville Community Centre in the north. Participants from both east and west Belfast also played a vital role in the programme.
