IT’S OUR BIRTHDAY!
Yes, Wheelworks Arts has been delivering community arts programmes for 25 years across Northern Ireland. In that time, we’ve supported thousands of community groups, delivered tonnes of arts workshops and inspired countless young people to believe in themselves.
At the heart of all these achievements are the artists we work with and so what better way to reflect on and celebrate our birthday, than by supporting the Artists of Northern Ireland.
WheelWorks is commissioning 2 Artists* to create art of your choice; in whatever way you wish. We want to give you the time, the investment and the stimulus to nourish your artistry.
The chosen artists will also be given the ArtCart** for two weeks as your own studio space.
The commission title and the stimulus we would like you to respond to is:
WHEELWORKS ARTS:
25 DONE. 25 TO COME.
Your response can be a piece of visual, performance or digital artwork: an idea, a documentary, a song, a word, a movement or showcasing a new digital concept — it really can be anything. The creativity is purely yours to capture and share. We are reflecting on 25 years of Wheelworks Arts and looking ahead to what the next 25 should be. This artist’s commission is your creative playground in which to respond to this stimulus in your way.
With this project, WheelWorks would like to take the opportunity to show our heartfelt thanks to the Artists of Northern Ireland for making the Creative community the vibrant, fertile ground it is and will continue to be for years to come. So while we all try to find a new normal, jump aboard our ArtCart as your own studio, turn up the music, get cosy and let your creative juices just FLOW.

We would like to commission 2 Artist to create their own work in response to the above title
£1000 fee for each Artist.

We will give you the ArtCart to make your own creative studio for 2 weeks
Artist’s Assembly — the finale of the project will be to showcase each of the Artist’s work together in an exhibition for press and public to celebrate Wheelworks’ 25th Birthday.
COMMISSION ENTRY REQUIREMENTS
Submit a 2-minute video link* to lisa@wheelworksarts.com to show and tell us why you would like to part of the Artist Commission to celebrate Wheelworks 25th Birthday. Use the video however you wish to express yourself, it does not need to be you speaking to camera.
A short written description of your proposed creative work.
